“First District” refers to the area in downtown Manhattan that housed the first commercial power plant in the US.

Thomas Edison’s Pearl Street Station came online in September of 1882 and served customers in what became known as the “First District,” in New York City’s Financial District. It served both commercial and residential customers, including the New York Times.

Nearly 150 years later, local deployment of critical infrastructure will once again drive growth in the modern era.
